Thriving under the Mentorship Program
Jason joined AMTD's Mentorship Program when he was studying in the Faculty of Finance in The City University of Hong Kong. Upon graduation, he joined AMTD as an Associate Financial Planner.
"I decided to apply for the Mentorship Program in my third year of study after learning AMTD background and its daily operation in the Career Talk that was held by AMTD. During the mentorship program, I had the opportunity to learn from my mentor, who was an experienced Financial Planning Manager. I even had opportunities of meeting clients with my mentor at that time. Since I have taken a Financial Planning course during the second semester of my second year of study, I got a basic understandings on the Financial Planning industry and the opportunity that I learnt directly from AMTD did give me more insights on the prospects of the industry and whether it suits me. I joined the company as a Financial Planner upon graduation."
Jason has been promoted to the position of Senior Financial Planner within 2 years of employment in AMTD.
"In the early stage, the biggest challenge to me was to communicate with my customers effectively and to establish a long term relationship with them properly. Now, I remember all my clients and meet up with them regularly. Of course, continuous study is also part of my job. Apart from attending those trainings that provided by AMTD, I am now pursuing the professional qualification of Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Continuous learning is very important in this industry and we need to keep abreast of new knowledge and market information to meet with the dynamic change in the financial market."
